On Women
Book Design
Raster Engraving
Self Perfect Binding
8.5 × 12 in

This book explores traces left by or on women, showcasing various artistic expressions and narratives focusing on women's experiences and influence. It delves into the concept of traces through art, photography, history, and the human body.

256 Images
Book Design
Accordion/Dos-à-dos
Self Saddle Stitch
4.5 × 8.5 in

This book is a collection of images that reflect who I am, my likings, thoughts and aesthestics. The images are categorized based on the brightness either of the photo itself or the object in the image. Brightness here refers to both level of lighting or the vibrancy of a color. There are four sections in the book: Dark, Dim, Ambient, Bright.

This book is designed to be experienced at your own pace, using time as a guide for reflection. Each image is placed on a time scale, with both axes representing seconds (0 to 60). The position of the image shows how long you should view it. For example, an image at (60,60) means to look at it for 60 seconds.

The Death of Rocks
Brochure
Risograph

Rocks are something we see regularly in the outdoors, yet they remain invisible to us and are commonly ignored as ordinary objects. Despite this, rocks are a fundamental part of our environment and the Earth's structure, playing a crucial role in shaping the planet's landscapes and ecosystems. However, they are frequently overlooked in our daily lives.

The goal of this project is to bring attention to the significance of rocks by emphasizing their importance and examining their gradual disappearance due to various factors.

Exhibition Visual Design
Branding

Creating promotional materials for a fictional tea exhibition that is set within a bamboo forest in Yangshuo, Guilin, and coming up with a brand identity for a tea brand. The purpose of this exhibition is to promote tea culture and encourage people to slow down from the busy urban life, appreciating the tranquility and joy brought by tea and nature.

InterPlayse
Exhibition Design
Branding
Vinyl cut

Social media, especially since the pandemic, has become central to daily life as a primary method for expression, connection, and entertainment—mirroring Mikhail Bakhtin’s concept of carnival, where norms are suspended in favor of uninhibited play and expression. InterPlayse is an event that translates this digital phenomenon into a tangible, immersive experience, amplifying the exaggerated, performative, and absurd behaviors found online to materialize the chaotic, liberating, and disorienting nature of social media in physical space.

Web Design
This website is an archive of books which I collected from different sources, including my own collection, those of my friends, a local bookstore, and the university library.

Apart from viewing the archive, there is a “writing-mode” which allows users to create their own poems or texts. I selected books in different languages so that users can construct sentences freely, either according to the meaning of the words or their pronunciations.

Traces
Book/Calendar Design
Ring binding
4.5 × 9 in

This project aims to highlight the hidden narratives within ordinary traces found on streets, emphasizing that even mundane objects have stories waiting to be discovered. In this perforated calendar, you’ll find several narratives unfolded simultaneously, and there is no one correct way to read or interpret them. The collection of photographs tells a single, open-ended story, accompanied by various anecdotes gathered from a blog. These fragments of texts can be paired with the visuals while the pages remain intact, and they can also stand independently once each page has been torn out.

Narrative 280
Book Design
Self Accordion Binding
2.8 × 5.8 in
This project is an experiment that attempts to archive fleeting moments online in an intiruging way. It turns a collection of over 20 Twitter posts into a new, interconnected story through the use of AI.

The use of translucent paper echoes the fleeting nature of social media. In addition, it creates a dual reading experience. On one side, readers engage with both text and images, while on the other, the narrative unfolds solely through visuals, offering a different yet interconnected perspective. The goal was to create an experience that made people pause and reflect.

Sensitive Words
Book Design
Self Japanese Stab Stitch Binding
French fold

This is a small-scale book project that borrows from archives and experiments with form. I decided to produce a french folded book, and the content is sourced from an archive called “Sensitive Words” created by China Digital Times. The “Sensitive Words” series documents keywords that are censored on Chinese social media.

Neurotype
Web Design

This was a collaborative effort with Minkyung Cho.

An experimental project that aims to visualize schiphrenia through typesetting.
Through this visual represenation, we hope it could help others understand the primary experiences of those experiencing Schizophrenia.

The transformation of typography and design were developed based on research and first-hand accounts of individuals who live with symptoms of schizophrenia.
